Mini No More!

That’s right, we’re no longer a Mini Maker Faire, but a full-fledged Featured Maker Faire! Maker Faire Rochester is coming back bigger and better than ever on Friday & Saturday, November 16th & 17th, 2018.

This year, we’re adding a Student S.T.E.A.M. Fest on the Friday leading into the faire. The Student S.T.E.A.M. Fest will give hundreds of students in 3rd through 8th grade a hands-on sneak preview of Saturday’s event.

We will also be hosting a regional summit on the Friday afternoon, and a reception for makers and sponsors that evening. More information on our afternoon and evening events will be published soon.

Our Call for Makers opens on Wednesday, May 16th, so stay tuned for our announcement! We’re excited about what this year will bring.

Upcoming Events:

To kick off our new name, we will be at 2 events this Saturday with our light painting photobooth. Be sure to stop by, say hi, and try out our booth.

We would also like to wish everyone an early Happy Mother’s Day! Our moms were some of our first maker inspirations and we would like to thank them for always supporting us.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about how to become a maker or anything about this year’s faire.
Keep on Making,
The Maker Faire Rochester Committee

  • Doug Hemingway says:

Congrats! What is the dividing line between a Mini and a full-bore Faire?

  • Good work! … but… will makers have the option of being present only on Saturday? Our lace guild had a blast offering a make-it-take-it project in 2017 but two days at that intensity may be too much for our eight members.

    • Yes. When the Call For Makers opens, makers will be able to select which day, or both days they would like to have a booth.

The Friday will be the School S.T.E.A.M Fest, and will not be open to the general public. It will be a school field-trip day for Classrooms from 3rd grade to 8th grade. Part of our mission is to help educate and inspire wonder in the next generation of makers. More details will be coming out soon.

Also Friday afternoon and early evening we will have a Regional Maker Summit with talks, presentations, discussion panels, etc. which will be open to the public. That will be followed by a Maker Meetup social for our Makers later Friday evening.

Saturday will be open to the public as we have traditionally been.
