School will be in session very soon across New York! With students back in classrooms next week, we all need to consider how to help foster that creative spark in our youth. With that in mind, we are excited to announce Maker Faire Rochester’s Student S.T.E.A.M. Fest in partnership with
NYSCATE.
What is the Student S.T.E.A.M. Fest? It’s a special sneak peek at Maker Faire Rochester held on Friday, November 16th, from 9 AM to 2:30 PM. We are opening this day to school and (home school groups) for students in 3rd to 8th grade.
This day will be organized to allow students and their teachers the opportunity to see and engage in making activities across multiple categories including:
- Robots and Drones
- Think, Design, Create (Manufacturing)
- Sustainability
- The Arts; Hands on Science (Applied Sciences)
- Culinary/Agriculture
- Coding and Things that Go Beep (Micro controllers, Mini Computers, and Coding)
- DIY (jewelry, home repair/construction, and more)
If you are a maker, the Student S.T.E.A.M. Fest is a great way to help share your knowledge and passion to inspire the next generation of makers. Please consider sharing your gifts and answering the
Call for Makers.
If you are a business interested in sponsoring a hands on activity or covering the cost for a class to attend, check out our
Sponsorship Packet.
We have a special performance that we are bringing in to ignite the curiosity of students.
Jason Latimer world champion magician and curator of Impossible Science at the Fleet Science Center in San Diego California will be bringing his show live and in person! This is an opportunity for schools not to miss!
We hope that you’ll join us for this special one of a kind event!

Hello, your program of activities for this venue is truly remarkable especially for the children educational growth. As a solo classical guitarist who began learning, performing and teaching at the age of 13, I definitely see the benefits of your efforts in cultivating the minds of these children and of their circles through a hands on experience as well as the other sensories. If by any chance you are contracting musicians, check out my Facebook page at George Diaz Muñiz.
Hi!
I am putting in for the funds to bring a group to the STEAM FEST tomorrow and wonder if I will receive a confirmation if there is still availability?
Thanks!
Hi Pauline!
There is still availability! We’ve up the number of students that we’re open to for the Student S.T.E.A.M. Fest to 1,200. We look forward to having you in attendance!
Is there an on-line registration form for the Nov. 16 Rochester NY Student STEAM Fest. I believe the registration forms are due the 18th and was hoping to be able to do it on-line if possible.
Online registration can be found here: http://www.nyscate.org/studentsteamfest.
I am coming for NYSCATE and was wondering if it was possible for me to check out the STEAM Fest on Friday as well? I am a STEAM Coach from Avon, NY and would possibly be interested in bringing some classes in the future.
