Testimonials

“The Mini Maker Faire has quickly become a highlight for me each year as it is such a fun and exciting way to meet new community members, see local groups in action, and become inspired by all the different creations! The event has also become a wonderful platform for spreading the word about our nonprofit group, Girl Develop It, and acts as an annual gathering for other local nonprofits and organizations in the Rochester area. Fun for folks of all ages! Don’t miss it!”

Kristen Curtze, Co-founder of the Rochester Girl Develop It Chapter

“The Rochester Mini Maker Faire is a rich, important source of inspiration for the Rochester Museum and Science Center’s program and exhibit development. As the RMSC’s chief science officer,  I attend Rochester Mini Maker Faire to experience the kaleidoscopic range of cleverly imagined projects, innovative applications of STEM skills and a truly robust integration of the sciences, arts, tools, technology and enterprise. My team at the RMSC values the insight, imagination and ingenuity of our region’s Maker community, and we often discover these individuals first at the Rochester Mini Maker Faire.”

Daniel J. Menelly, Chief Science Officer of the Rochester Museum and Science Center

“As a parent of two young boys and first-time booth participant last year, I can think of few events that foster a spirit of inquiry and delight as the Rochester Mini Maker Faire does. It is a stellar, well-run and fun event for young and old alike, and I am always spreading the news about this fantastic community resource to everyone I meet.”

Jill Freeman, Parent, Maker Enthusiast, Nonprofit professional, and founder of MAD Labs.

“I’ve been an exhibitor at the Faire since its inception. Out of the dozen shows I promote my business at each year, the Faire is by far the one I look forward to the most. It’s one of the most organized, well attended, and fun events I’ve ever had the pleasure to be a part of. Not only has the exposure at the event lead to increased business, but the relationships I’ve gained with both attendees and other exhibitors has been immeasurable. My only wish is that I had more time to spend at all the other amazing booths during the day, but I was too busy to even leave the table! The organizers of this event are making Rochester known for its creativity and place within the Maker movement and should be celebrated for their achievements.”

Brian Staebell, Owner of Red Bridge Custom Gifts

“The Rochester Mini Maker Faire is an exhibition of human creativity!  As a maker I am inspired by the ability of my neighbors to manifest their passion into physical form.  The act of taking basic elements and manipulating them into something greater than the sum of its parts is at the core of what it is to be a maker.  It has also been a deeply moving experience to see children to seniors enjoy a day of celebration of the creative process.  It has been worth every minute of time in the preparation and execution of my project.”

“At RIT we have built a diverse culture of creative makers, thinkers and doers-and we are eager to share that with others.  The Rochester Mini Maker Faire is the perfect opportunity for us to share our innovative spirit with the Rochester community with the hopes of inspiring the next creative class of world changers.”

Jennifer Hinton, Assistant Director RIT Center for Media, Arts, Games, Interaction and Creativity (MAGIC)

“The Rochester Mini Maker Faire was a great experience for Thimble. During the event we were able to speak with at least 200 people (based on the amount of info cards we handed out) about our subscription-based electronics project kits, let them play with our products, gather feedback, and collect email sign-ups to keep people informed of when we launched on Kickstarter. Now that our Kickstarter is over, at least a couple hundred of our backers are from Rochester and many of them have told us the Maker Faire was how they found out about our project. Thanks to NYSCATE’s sponsorship of the Rochester Mini Maker Faire, we were also able to connect with a number of educators, a few of which we are continuing to speak with about how we can get Thimble kits into classrooms. Walking around the faire was a blast too! There are so many interesting projects and it is always great to connect and build friendships with other maker entrepreneurs!”
