What inspired you to make this project?
I'm always looking for ways to push the bounds of what's possible. One fun thing I'd been doing for some time was using a drone to capture entire landscapes and merging them into what most people call a "tiny planet". This past June, one of the sponsors of Nococon was Oculus, and working with their VR headsets, I suddenly realized I could turn those tiny planets inside out, digitally, and render a visual sphere that a person could step inside of, through VR. It took me a bit longer to figure out how to add motion, but I had a vision - all artists in every medium do, I suppose - of capturing discrete moments in individuals lives in such a way that they can revisit them as realistically as possible. I had a sense that VR could bring us closer to that goal than we had ever been in history, so I was driven to make it work.
