Mermaid Tory

Tory O'Neil
My name is Tory O'Neil and I work as a character entertainer. My primary character is my very own swimming mermaid. My mermaid tail was hand made and took almost 6 months to create. With my tail I have performed at parties, The Strong Museum, festivals, a mermaid wedding, Splash Lagoon Waterpark and parades. I am also a fairy entertainer with large iridescent wings. As a fairy I have done story readings, The Fairy House Tour at Corn Hill Arts Festival, The Strong Museum, and other similar events. I started character acting around 3 years ago working for a princess company. From there I created my own princess dresses to attend parties and events in and have also performed as several provided character for special events at The Strong Museum. When I'm not performing or working on costumes I work at The Turk Hill Craft School and Pottery Studio as a studio assistant and instructor for kids camps and workshops. Thanks to my work at the studio I have been working more and more with ceramics and sell part-time online my unique mermaid mugs. I graduated from Corning Community College with a associates in Fine Art and Design and a bachelors from Mansfield University in Art History. I moved to the area almost four years ago with my husband from Pennsylvania and have been luck enough to experience all that Rochester has to offer.

What inspired you to make this project?
I started off working for a small princess company with cheap costume dresses. I wanted to create my own performing character that was unique to the area.
