Heavy Meta dragon art car

Art & Design
Heavy Meta is a 30 foot-long, 19 foot-tall, mobile metal dragon made of hand-cut, hand-welded sheet metal panels built atop a GM bus. A beautiful, terrifying beast, Heavy Meta shoots huge fireballs from its tail and animatronic mouth.

What inspired you to make this project?
Heavy Meta is inspired by the long tradition of Mutant Vehicles at the annual Burning Man festival in Nevada. Our goal was to bring this art form to Canada, where it is largely unknown. We are now Canada's largest art car. Aesthetically, we were inspired by another Mutant Vehicle at Burning Man called Rhino Redemption by Kevin Clark. Spiritually, we were inspired by the 1981 Canadian animated film Heavy Metal, from where we derive the dragon's name.
